projectY cowork Los Alamos was one of 10 businesses and non-profits that received awards from the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce at a sold-out Gala at Fuller Lodge on Saturday, April 22. The coworking space, which opened in June 2016, received the "Most Innovative Business of the Year" award based on a nomination and vote by the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce membership. As projectY cowork Director Lauren McDaniel was unavailable to attend the Gala, the projectY cowork award was accepted by community supporters Kathy Keith (LANL Community Partnerships Office) and Antonio Maggiore (Los Alamos County Councilor).
The Gala included appetizers and dinner catered by Blue Window Bistro, a silent auction that raised funds for the winner of the Non-profit of the Year Award, casino games, and dancing to the performance of professional Frank Sinatra impersonator Steven St. James. The evening’s activities were made possible by sponsors Los Alamos Network, Los Alamos National Bank, Sunpower by Positive Energy Solar, Del Norte Credit Union, and LANL Community Partnership Office.
After a joke taking aim at the Academy Awards’ La La Land error, emcee’s LACDC Board President David Jolly, LACDC Executive Director Patrick Sullivan and Chamber of Commerce Director Nancy Partridge presented engraved crystal awards to the winners.
The award winners are:
Financial Institution of the Year: Del Norte Credit Union

2016 Small Business Saturday Best Customer Service Award: Flowers by Gillian

The winners were selected by a vote of the Chamber of Commerce Membership from a pool of 55 businesses and non-profits that were nominated in the award categories. All of the nominees were presented certificates at the Gala as well.
