projectY cowork Director Lauren McDaniel presented at the Main Street Now Conference May 1 in Pittsburgh, talking to attendees about the benefits of coworking and how Los Alamos set up its own coworking facility in the heart of downtown.
The goal of the session was to inspire other cities to start their own coworking facilities in the heart of their downtown districts in order to help create community among freelancers and remote workers, foster innovation, and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Attendees learned about the model created in Los Alamos, the strategic partners who came together to make the vision a reality, the events and programs run from the space, as well as the coworking members who come together in a collaborative way to work solo - but not alone.
While not named a winner this year, Los Alamos Main Street was selected as a Semi-Finalist for the 2017 Great American Main Street Award. The year prior, it was also named a Main Street "One to Watch." To learn more about the local Main Street programs in Los Alamos, visit http://losalamosmainstreet.com/.
In addition to her time in Pittsburgh, McDaniel also recently traveled to New York City to attend the Global Coworking Unconference Conference to pick up advice on how to make the Los Alamos coworking space even more dynamic and inspiring.
