Coworking can be about collaborating and networking with other like-minded individuals —such as other startups and entrepreneurs — or those who may be in a completely different field than you, who help you discover a new source of ideas.

Today, however, some connections and relationships exist (or at least start) online rather than in-person. LinkedIn, for example, has the online largest professional network, with more than 467 million members in over 200 countries, according to the company. Inc. magazine has called it “one of the most important and most prevalent resources for professional networking available.”

Your online presence in this channel can lead to potential business partners, mentors, new employers offering a better opportunity (even if you weren’t seeking one), media inquiries, or simply peers and colleagues reaching out from other companies interested in networking.

And while LinkedIn can never replicate traditional forms of meeting and socializing, it is important to maintain your profile presence, as it can be a first impression of you to people you haven’t yet met. Your personal brand should be treated like a company brand, as it’s a significant part of your identity: your photo, in particular, should be professional and where you look and feel your best.

To help the local business community enhance their personal branding in 2017, projectY cowork and Paulina Gwaltney Photography have recently partnered to offer an Open House for professional headshots.

On Wednesday, Feb. 15 from noon to 7 p.m. at her studio at 3500 Trinity Dr, Ste D1, Gwaltney will be taking walk-ins for headshots sittings, which will take approximately 15 minutes per customer. On that day, all individuals in need of a new professional portrait will receive a $101 credit, which will bring the cost of a headshot to only $99. All clients with be presented with three quality headshots from which to choose.

So if you haven’t even thought twice about updating your own personal branding within the last five years (or perhaps more), consider a new headshot in 2017. Gwaltney is also offering custom packages for small business and corporate teams for individual headshots and group photos (in-studio or on-location at your place of business). Visit her website at or contact her at [email protected] for more information.
